04 Mar Plate of Origin Launch
We recently had the pleasure of hosting the launch event for the upcoming Plate of Origin competition.
A new annual competition, Plate of Origin showcases the best food from across New Zealand. Hosted in Manawatu, ten local restaurants are partnered up with ten of the best restaurants from around the country to collaborate on one main dish. Each plate will highlight two key ingredients to represent their partner restaurant’s region. Plate of Origin is run in association with Cuisine Magazine, Air New Zealand and Visa Wellington On a Plate.
Judged by Cuisine magazine editor Kelli Brett and UCOL chef lecturer Mark Smith, the competition is part of the 2016 New Zealand Agri investment week.
Judges visit each restaurant on the Wednesday and Thursday during Agri investment week with results to be announced in following Cuisine magazine issue.
Wharerata will host a one-off event on the 17th of March to showcase the Hawkes Bay as part of New Zealand Agri investment week. The specially crafted five-course menu will take five premier Hawkes Bay wines and match each with the regions finest cuisine.
